Assignment 14A – Halfway Reflection

I have told myself to start the assignments earlier than later. Since there are assignments every week, I organize my weekends to do as much as I can for other classes then. I have definitely used my time management skills for this class above all other classes this semester. The most stubborn part about the class is doing peer reviews on the weekend. I try to look every day during the week to see if my group members have submitted their assignments on their blogs earlier so I can do the peer reviews before the weekend.

I actually did not want to do the reading reflection for this week because I’m not much of a reader but I decided to do it when I saw the book topics in the beginning of the semester. It seemed much more interesting than all the other books I’ve had to read for school. I generally have a tenacious attitude with school itself because I do not like to leave things incomplete. So regardless if it doesn’t count I will always get the work done before it’s due date. I have developed this attitude over the past few years because I've realized there is a better outcome.

1). Always start early. Time management is most important with this class. You cannot leave these assignments for the last minute and expect to be able to do it all on Friday. 2). Create a schedule of all your classes put together so you know what’s to come every week, that way you can plan out your school work and outside activities ahead of time. 3). It’s understandable that you want to have fun in college but don’t let that fun overpower your studies. After all, you are in UF to study and get a degree.

  1. Dear Lourdes: I completely agree with your statement. Time management is essential for this course and in general for UF. I can tell because I'm an exchange student (I come from Madrid) and the change between my host university and UF is huge. I'm much busier here. I also agree that it's important to do everything as early as possible, because, for example, my group members have not done l any of the assignments due for this week and I have to comment yours (lol). Anyways, keep working and, as usual, you'll see results. Good job!

  2. Lourdes,
After reading your's and other of our classmate's reflections, it's interesting to read that many people have mentioned that this class requires good time management skills. I also included that tip in my reflection. This class I think it as forced me to think outside the box and it's challenged me. I also was dreading reading for this week's assignment 13 but you're right, this books are far more interesting than other's I've had to read in previous courses. The readings seem more relevant to my life and offer helpful insight for the future. Reading your tips, I also mentioned in my reflection to plan ahead, like getting a planner to schedule. A planner has helped me countless times not miss deadlines. Overall, I enjoyed reading your post. I wish you the best in the second half of the course!

  3. Hi Lourdes,
Time management is definitely an important aspect of this class. Not many classes have work due on Friday nights so it is imperative you start early. Also your comments about the book reading resonated with me too. I already read my book awhile ago but I had a hard time remembering everything and setting aside time to refresh my memory. It is interesting to note that book reflections are definitely much harder to do when done last minute in this class.

  4. Hi Lourdes, I completely agree. I rather submit an ok assignment than not submit anything. I hate thinking that I missed a chance to get a better grade. I always strive to finish my assignments earlier than the due date, I think it allows for better thought out posts rather than rushed.

  5. Over time my life has changed and I have always been a type A person, who always wants to get things done. No matter what it is, if I set myself to accomplish something I do it. Unfortunately, due to some events I had to sacrifice some of the assignments which bothers me a bit due to how important it is for me to get things done,

Being a full-time athlete is really hard to have a balanced life, and time management is crucial. Unfortunately I am a procrastinator, but when it comes to interviews I am really good about it. I normally tend to work really well under pressure.

I really enjoyed your reflection, and agree with the rules. We are at UF to get a degree.

To achieve something... we need to make it happen!
