In my
first interview, Nicole suggested having this same monitor but like a house
arrest anklet on the wrist for those who do not have a car or may not be
allowed to drive. This is a great idea since my product is not helpful for
those who do not have a car and may have driven someone else’s when in an
impaired state. Also, for teenagers driving under the influence without a
license, this would help them as well. This idea would be used for example, if a teenager came home and a parent realized he/she was drinking and driving. The parent would put this wristlet on the child the next time they would go out to ensure they won't drink and drive again.
Another
interviewee suggested people having them purse size that way they can take the
breathalyzer anywhere they go and have it nearby before going into the car
instead of having it connected to the engine. The only issue with this is that
some people will have poor judgment and see their BAC levels over the limit
and still decide to drive impaired anyways.
My
last interviewee was focused more on a business standpoint rather than an
alternative product. We spoke about how these products would be sold and for
how much. We compared prices to what drugstores sell a small breathalyzer for. My product would be
of high quality and would come in multiple sizes. A small size for those that
can fit in a purse and a medium size for ones that would get put in the car. For
those that would be put on the wrist would be adjustable so that they can fit
any one. They can be bought online or in specific stores.
All in all, this product is important to buy because it can save your life and your families’ lives. It’s a good idea to buy because it follows the law and would prevent from stupid decisions being made such as driving while impaired. Lastly, other considerations should be made before producing this product to be able to accommodate everyone. These interviews opened my eyes that my product was not a universal one. There should be multiple versions of it so that it can be helpful for everyone of all ages and whether they have or don’t have a car. I believe people would agree that there would be no better alternative than my product, and purchasing it would not be a waste of money. It will be used one way or another, whether on yourself, your husband/wife, or your children when they are of age to drink.

Hi again Lourdes! I think your product is a brilliant idea and it would be really helpful to countless people. In fact, I think something similar is being implemented in Europe, but still in a very small scale. I totally agree that this device would avoid people from making stupid decisions as you have said, since I have some of friends that, knowing that they were drunk, still decided to drive, which is a great danger for themselves and the ones who are close to them (in the road and in their families). Good job!!
ReplyDeleteYour product is one of my favorite that I have read about! A breathalyzer would be important for anyone who drinks. The idea of having multiple versions sounds great now but I think for marketing reasons, narrowing your target market down and your product offerings will really help in the long run. Maybe start off the company with one type of breathalyzer and build from there? Still, a great post!
